Our troop is 10 years old. We are proud of the 7 Scouts who earned their Eagle rank in the troop. We now have 39 active Scouts. The Scouts are supported by many adults, including 11 Assistant Scoutmasters, all trained, 9 having earned the Eagle Scout Rank and 3 being Woodbadge-trained.
Our troop camps monthly, with activities, merit badge classes and service projects during the year, culminating with a week-long summer camp. Last Summer we went to Camp Hale in Oklahoma. Previous camps have included San Isabel Scout Ranch and Ben Delatour Scout Camps in Colorado. In 2007, we went to Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch in far West Texas for summer camp.
The Troop is actively involved in High Adventure. In 2010, we sent 2 crews to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. In 2009, Two of our scouts went to Philmont with the council contingent. In 2008 we sent a crew on a backpacking trip in the interior of Alaska.
The troop plans a theme each month that focuses on one merit
badge. This is incorporated into troop meetings, campouts and other activities.
We promote and encourage Scouts being 'thrifty.' A percentage of profits from their sales goes into their own Scout accounts to help pay for campouts and activities. Our fundraisers include: popcorn sales, greenery sales, Scout Show ticket sales, garage sale, and car wash.
We invest many resources to teach the Scouts leadership skills. Many of our Scouts return to staff these trainings.
Webelos / New Scouts / New Parents
Webelos/Parents are welcome to visit our troop meetings and join us on a campout. Just let us know in advance by contacting our Comittee Chair, Daryl Schaedel! New Scouts are formed into their own patrol, assigned a Troop Guide (an older, trained Scout) and an Asst. Scoutmaster. They follow a 'Trail to First Class' program which supports an active Scout being able to earn his first four ranks in his first year. We also have openings and needs for parents to serve as troop adults leaders-we do have fun! We are actively seeking to add 1-2 patrols of Webelos to join in our adventures and exciting programs.
